Handwoven African Winged Basket
Our winged baskets beautifully display the talent and skill of our weavers in West Africa. Their unique shape offers more storage for your personal items. Members of Alaffia basket cooperatives receive fair wages and health care for their families in return for indigenous skills and knowledge. This exchange empowers West African communities and preserves cultural heritage.
CARE & USE: To reshape your basket, spray lightly with water, shape and air dry thoroughly. Avoid direct light for best color retention.
Beauty isn't only skin deep!

Artistry and functionality and affordability = Alaffia baskets. I have been witness to empowerment that women & men gain through Alaffia's fair trade villages in West Africa. Many hands are involved in the making of a basket. Grass is collected. Strands of grass are made into twine. Some go al natural and some are dyed. Twine then becomes an interpreted piece of art in the hands of the weaver. All hands involved are then empowered, in part, because they are paid a fair wage. The quality of the final product is unparalleled. And at this price why isn't an Alaffia basket, or two, already in your shopping cart?
